AIR CLEANER
Upon full opening of the throttle, a huge volume of air is drawn in
at highspeeds. Meanwhile, when the throttle is closed, an inertial force
acts and air is compressed at the instant just prior to full closing.
When the accelerator is subsequently depressed, the sealed cleaner box
is subjected to a more intense vacuum as a result of the reaction to
compression. The efficiency of replenishment is increased a result of
this action, and accordingly, the air-intake system of the Honda NA
is both extremely ingenious and highly necessary.
THROTTLE BODY
Spoon used numerical control machining to achieve a large, 4-mm opening
for the throttle, while increasing the flow-pass area by 16%. Accordingly,
peak power is increased by a approximately 6HP.
VENTULI PLATE
Racing engines are machined with extreme precision and feature filled-in
intake ports. This is done to make use of the venturi effect a fundamental
of fluid mechanics. By smoothing a portion of the intake port and making
it narrower, it is possible to increase the speed of the air-fuel mixture.
By simply inserting this component between the cylinder head and the
intake manifold, it is possible to obtain the optimum port shape for
the above-mentioned venturi effect. When the speed of the air-fuel mixture
is increased in this way, the efficiency of combustion inside the engine
is improved and power increases accordingly.
DIRECT AIR FLOW PIPE
A carbon fiber resonance silencer tube has been added to the EK4/9
air cleaner box in order that intake air noise can be eliminated.
CARBON AIR DUCT
This carbon fiber air duct cools down the flow of air intake as air and water temperature rise. Works great during extreme racing.
